Markham,ON—September 20, 2004— The DATASENSOR AREAscan™ detection and measurement light grid family is enriched thanks to the introduction of the new DS1 series, characterised above all by the competitive performance / price ratio.AREAscan™ DS1 series are multi-beam photoelectric devices ideal for detection, measurement and counting of objects of also very small dimensions and different shapes. The light grids are composed of emitting and receiving units and the parallel and aligned optics generate a sensitive area within which objects are detected. A wide range of models, with different detection heights, resolutions and operating distances, are available in order to supply solutions that satisfy the different application requirements. Different models are available with 100 mm, 150 mm or 300 mm detection heights, with minimum resolution that can reach 4 mm for "HIGH RESOLUTION" models (only for models with 100 mm or 150 mm detection heights), or 7 mm for "STANDARD RESOLUTION" models.Lastly, "SHORT DISTANCE" models are available with an operating distance ranging from 150 mm to 850 mm or "LONG DISTANCE" models from 800 mm to 2100 mm. The Automation is completely integrated inside the light grids and thus no external control unit is necessary. The synchronisation via cable between the receiving and emitting unit guarantees the maximum immunity against electromagnetic or optic disturbances.All models present a 0 -10 V analog output and a PNP switching digital output. The analog output supplies a voltage proportional to the number of optics interrupted; whereas the digital output switches when an object is detected inside the sensitive area. The user can easily verify the operating status of the device through a LED present on the emitting unit and two LEDs on the receiver; the same LEDs control the device's self-diagnostics and the correct alignment of the two units. The ultra-slim profile (20 x 40 mm), together with the IP65 mechanical protection degree, the 1 ms response time, the easy use and installation as well as the excellent performances, make the DATASENSOR AREAscan™ light grids of the DS1 series ideal for many different industrial automation applications. Some typical applications: object detection and measurement on a conveyor belt, correct position detection of material in working, position verification, loop control and detection of also very small objects that can be in random positions. The device is supplied with the fixing brackets necessary for the mechanical mounting and electrical connection that is accomplished by means of standard M12 5-pole connectors for the receiver and M12 4-pole connectors for the emitter.
